Pyroluria is a
genetic condition of erroneous bio-chemistry indicated by high levels
of kryptopyrroles in urine detectable as a purple metabolite on testing
paper. Hence it was known as the purple or mauve factor. Pyroluria results
in deficiency of zinc, vitamin B6 and arachidonic acid (omega-6 fatty
acid). Symptoms can include explosive temper, mood swings, poor short-term
memory, frequent infections, ADHD, hyperactivity and schizophrenia. Sufferers
have inability to tan, poor dream recall, abnormal fat distribution,
sensitivity to light and sound, white flecks/marks on nails, stretch
marks on skin, are easily tired, anemic, have poor dream recall, often
prefer not to eat breakfast, notice upper abdominal pain when stressed,
and experience a "stitch" in their side if they run. They have
a tendency to become loners as they age. Mental symptoms are aggravated
when undergoing stress.
Zinc supplementation improves symptoms and recovery of schizophrenic
and depressed patients. Carl Pfeiffer, a respected doctor in this field
showed that taking extra zinc and vitamin B6 would eradicate the production
of kryptopyrroles. A period of stress, which depletes the body of zinc,
can push a person into psychosis, particularly if they have a biochemical
tendency towards producing excess kryptopyrroles. However, most pyrolurics
never develop schizophrenia symptoms.
As with all biochemical markers the effects of different factors can
bring a variety of results depending upon the individual. Alternatively
a variety of causative factors can bring about similar results dependent
upon the individual.
Such variety was demonstrated through clinical
studies of violent persons at the Brain Bio Center in Princeton,
New Jersey. These studies
produced four typical groups of subjects falling into one of the
following categories: A/B/C/D hair-chemistry patterns. They found that
typically
type B subjects exhibit elevated kryptopyrroles in urine; depressed
spermine, zinc and manganese in blood, elevated blood lead, along
with high histamine levels and hypoglycemia.
Type A subjects on the other hand have a histamine disorder, elevated
copper and lead in blood, and zinc deficiency, with about 40 percent
exhibiting
pyroluria and/or hypoglycemia. Type C and D subjects do not have high kryptopyrroles.
Alcohol
abuse allows pyrolurics to avoid anxiety, feel more sociable, and experience
a ‘normal’ feelings. However, those trying to
detox their bodies from an alcohol dependency will therefore need additional
anti-anxiety support from supplementation with nutrients such as: B vitamins,
magnesium, chromium and inositol.
Finding out if you have Pyroluria
Method: The test for Pyroluria is one component of the complete Restorative
Health Package, and so if you choose the complete package we will send
you information on how we can test you for these biochemical markers.
If you choose to have this test separately please indicate on the order
form and we will send out and kit for you to send in a urine sample
for analysis.
Results: The results and any appropriate suggestions to help will be either
incorporated within your comprehensive report or presented separately to
you, our target is within 4 weeks.
